This Friday night at OMCA, immerse yourself in a high-energy celebration of music and culture! First up, enjoy the electrifying performance by Banda 300. With 16 talented members from various Mexican states, this band stands out with its distinctive use of the accordion, blending traditional Banda music with modern electronic elements. Their vibrant performance combines the rich rhythms of regional Mexican dance music with an innovative twist.
This Friday Night, packed full of dance, music and celebration kicks off with a captivating performance by the Oakland Ballet Company, showcasing excerpts from La Luna Mexicana. This enchanting presentation captures the essence of Dia de los Muertos, blending vibrant dance, colorful costumes, and joyous music to honor family and tradition in an elaborate celebration.

With her groundbreaking fusion of Latin Femmeton, hip hop, jazz, and cumbia, La Doña delivers a powerful performance that blends ancestral traditions with modern diasporic sounds. Kicking off the 2025 Friday Nights season with high-energy beats, colorful performances, and an immersive cultural celebration, NSB brings the vibrant rhythms of Punjab, India, to life. Dance lessons, live drumming, and DJ sets will keep the energy flowing all night long, making it the perfect release for the whole family to enjoy.

Join us for an unforgettable day in OMCA’s outdoor garden, filled with performances, games, and hands-on activities that will engage visitors of all ages. This free event, in partnership with Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) teachers and students, celebrates sustainability and environmental themes with arts, sciences, and local culture, all working towards a greener future for the Bay Area. Voices of all ages will be featured, making it an inclusive, fun, and meaningful way to connect with the Earth and each other.

Dos Four, a dynamic fusion of Caribbean and Afro-Latin sounds, will take the stage, blending Salsa, Cumbia, Salsa Choque, Latino House, and more. Lead singer and songwriter Leyder Chapman, originally from Cuba, brings his passion for music to the Bay Area, offering feel-good tunes for all ages. With his rich musical background and past success with the band SAOCO, Dos Four continues to grow and deliver unforgettable performances.
Friday Nights at OMCA is ready to ignite the evening with an unforgettable lineup of music, stories, and hands-on activities for the whole family! This week, we’re celebrating the gripping energy of jazz as the Oaktown Jazz Workshops’ Performance Ensemble takes the stage with a dynamic group of young musicians aged 14-18. These talented students will perform a mix of jazz classics alongside professional master musicians and alumni youth mentors. With performance at the core of their training, Oaktown Jazz Workshops is preserving the jazz tradition and elevating the next generation of professional musicians, educators, and culture bearers.
Highlights include a curriculum slam, free gallery admission for teachers, Off the Grid food trucks, and live music during Friday Nights at OMCA. More details and schedule coming soon!

Every third Sunday, OMCA invites visitors to Spotlight Sundays, a series of conversations, performances, and experiences that showcase California visionaries.
Every first Sunday of the month, General Admission to OMCA’s Galleries of California Art, History, and Natural Sciences is free and tickets to Special Exhibitions in our Great Hall are offered at a discounted price of $6.
OMCA celebrates the Lunar New Year and explores the shared connections between the diverse Asian cultures of the Bay Area. These family-friendly programs will include both virtual and in-person offerings that celebrate and honor Lunar New Year traditions through storytelling, performances, activities, cooking demonstrations, and more. OMCA holds space for our AAPI communities to come together and uplift each other with both in-person and virtual healing circles.
In collaboration with OMCA’s Día de los Muertos Committee, we honor Day of the Dead every October and November.
The Oakland Museum Women’s Board started the White Elephant Sale over sixty years ago. The annual event is not-to-be-missed.
