Spring Teacher Night
May 9 from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm
OMCA is excited to celebrate teachers during our annual Spring Teacher Night, an evening for teachers to feel inspired and celebrated while enjoying the exciting energy of Friday Nights at OMCA—all with complimentary Museum access.
During a fun and fast-paced curriculum slam, learn how OMCA’s Teacher Fellows created gallery and classroom lesson plans that explore art as a tool for social and political engagement. Discover fresh ideas as you hear about what the Fellows prototyped with their students and what they learned along the way.
While you’re here, explore the diverse voices of California’s Indigenous peoples in Born of the Bear Dance: Dugan Aguilar’s Photographs of Native California, feel the vibrancy of fashion and family histories in Ancestral Visions: An Installation by Chelsea Ryoko Wong, and preview the new installation on student activism at San Francisco State University in Students on Strike. Printed resource guides will be available to help teachers enhance the gallery learning experience for their students.
The evening includes late-night access to OMCA galleries and a lively atmosphere, featuring music and delicious bites from Off the Grid food trucks.
Bring your team! This event is free for teachers and chaperones, with no RSVP required. Free gallery admission for all teachers and chaperones, and the first 100 arrivals will receive Off the Grid food truck and drink tickets.
