This fall, OMCA invites you to the 31st annual Día de los Muertos Community Celebration, honoring the vibrant traditions of this beloved cultural holiday. The day begins with a procession led by members of the Día de los Muertos Committee, welcoming all to take part in a meaningful gathering of remembrance and community.
Experience a full day of connection through hands-on activities, live music, delicious food, and the powerful presence of danza and ceremonia. Explore the Museum campus to view beautifully crafted ofrendas created by community members, each one a heartfelt tribute to loved ones and ancestors.Visit the mercado to support local artisans offering handmade goods, altar items, and Día de los Muertos–inspired art. Guests are also encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy OMCA’s gardens throughout the day.
ASL Interpretation for OMCA Garden and Amphitheater stage will be provided.

In collaboration with the Oakland Museum of California’s volunteer Día de los Muertos Committee, we transform our campus into a sacred space for our annual community celebration, which brings together people from Oakland and across the Bay Area. Visit OMCA every October to join in the celebration!
