Gallery Highlights

Ancestral Visions by Chelsea Ryoko Wong

Fashion, family histories, and personal identity intersect in this new installation. Wong’s paintings take inspiration from dresses owned by six 20th century Chinese American women, whose clothing and legacies live on in OMCA’s collection.

Dorothea Lange: La fotografía como activismo

Galería de Historia de California

Experience the iconic life and work of Dorothea Lange, world-renowned documentary photographer. Through the lens of her camera, Lange documented American life with riveting photographs that captured some of the most powerful moments of the 20th century.

Legacy of Love

In the History Gallery Theater you can catch two films directed by Cheo Tyehimba Taylor at the top of every hour. Legacy of Love follows four mothers who established the West Oakland Health Council in 1967. Their initiative led to the creation of the first Black-led health center.
