About Por el Pueblo
Malaquías Montoya is a public-serving artist, activist, and community leader who has inspired younger generations within the Chicano community and beyond for decades. This exhibition explores Montoya’s deeply collaborative artistic process, focus on community, and engagement across generations through early works from the artist, photographs, historical and familial ephemera, as well as contemporary artworks influenced by Montoya.
Major support for Por el Pueblo is provided by The Oakland Museum Women’s Board.
