Join us as comedian W. Kamau Bell and artists Rafael Casal and Favianna Rodriquez take to the OMCA Garden stage to discuss Oakland’s legacy and future as a hub for filmmaking. The program will be followed by a celebratory reception featuring music and complimentary light bites and libations. Rafael Casal is a writer, actor, producer, director, and rapper from Berkeley. His breakout film Blindspotting, which he wrote, produced, and starred in, was filmed in Oakland.
Favianna Rodriguez is an artist, cultural strategist, and entrepreneur based in Oakland. She is the co-founder and president of The Center for Cultural Power.
