Don’t miss an electric pop-up performance by Afrobeats Oakland as they explore the unique modern South African genre of Amapiano featuring DJ Juan G and emcee and host Christina Alexandria. The set will focus on instrumental genres bringing a jazzy vibe to the galleries. As the music plays enjoy bites and beverages in Town Fare.

The Gallery of California History will come alive with a can’t-miss pop-up performance. Stroll through OMCA’s award-winning galleries or stop by Town Fare for delicious bites. 

Gallery programming is included with the price of general Museum admission for guests, and totally free for Museum Members. Town Fare Café will be open to visitors until 8 pm.

About Afrobeats Oakland

Afrobeats Oakland was co-founded by music specialist/ creative director, Juan G, and production director, Asaba Kugonza, in 2019. They are longtime Oakland residents with unique first-generation immigrant backgrounds and have a strong vision rooted in both the recognition of Oakland’s rich diverse cultural history as well as a desire to move the conversation around arts and music.

Afrobeats Oakland is actively reimagining the African + African-American identity within the US. They are consciously reshaping mainstream thought around African Pop music, fashion, and culture and strive to create intercultural dialogue surrounding the culture and how they see themselves in it.

Experience Thursday After Hours at OMCA – your weekly night out at the Museum, rich with cocktails, culture, and community. Mingle at Town Fare Cafe by Chef Michele McQueen, where you can enjoy drinks and light bites against a backdrop of music, or explore the galleries which come alive at night with a mix of pop-up performances, chats, live drawings, and more– just for adults!
