El Museo de Oakland de California anuncia los eventos y programas de enero y febrero

(OAKLAND, CA) 8 de diciembre de 2017- El Museo de California de Oakland anuncia sus eventos y programas especiales en enero y febrero, incluyendo la muy esperada 59ª venta anual de Elefantes Blancos el 28 de enero, la mayor y mejor venta de artículos de segunda mano del norte de California. Prepárese para celebrar el 17º festival anual del Año Nuevo Lunar y Otras Tradiciones Asiáticas el domingo 25 de febrero, con una serie de actuaciones, arte, artesanía, comida y mucho más para que disfrute toda la familia. Y no se pierda las tres últimas semanas de la popular exposición del OMCA, El regalo de la naturaleza: humanos, amigos y lo desconocidoque se podrá ver en el Great Hall de la OMCA hasta el 21 de enero.

El OMCA permanece abierto días adicionales esta temporada de vacaciones, para que pueda aprovechar todo lo que el Museo tiene que ofrecer, incluyendo una excursión después de la cena los viernes con entrada a mitad de precio a partir de las 5 pm, con entrada gratuita para los 18 y menores.

todos de casa para visitar la principal exposición especial El regalo de la naturaleza: humanos, amigos y lo desconocidola exposición de los Días de los Muertos Metamorfosis y migraciónla recién inaugurada Echa raíces: Oakland cultiva alimentos, la impactante instalación de vídeo Puente de preguntas: Black Males y nuestras tres galerías de arte, historia y ciencia de California.

Realice una visita guiada con un docente a las 19:30 horas. Compruebe en el mostrador de venta de entradas el lugar de encuentro de esta noche y el tema sorpresa.

Tour de los días de los muertos

Disfrute de una visita guiada por un docente a la exposición Días de los Muertos de OMCA, Metamorfosis y Migración. Explore las obras de arte inspiradas en la migración de la mariposa monarca y contemple los temas de la tradición y la transformación. Vea especímenes de mariposas raramente vistos de la colección del OMCA junto con obras de arte de nuevo cuño, altares tradicionales y contribuciones de grupos escolares. Incluido en la entrada al Museo.

Be sure to visit our newest exhibition, Take Root: Oakland Grows Food, the acclaimed video installation Question Bridge: Black Males, and experience all that our galleries of California art, history, and sciences have to offer. Check out the Architecture Tour at 1 pm, and the California Art Tour at 2 pm. Pick up a treat for yourself or a loved one in the OMCA Store. Enjoy a lunch or snack in Blue Oak café. Tour | Architecture of the Museum

Experience OMCA’s remarkable mid-century modernist landmark building with the guidance of the Museum’s expert members of the Council on Architecture. This tour shares with you just a few of the highlights of the incredible building, from views of Lake Merritt and downtown Oakland from atop a three-tiered roof garden to the serene Koi Pond, and a truly Californian indoor/outdoor design that still delights and attracts visitors today. Designed in 1969 by Kevin Roche, with landscaping by Dan Kiley, the Museum recently completed a major renovation and expansion project overseen by San Francisco-based firm Mark Cavagnero Associates, which honors Roche and Kiley’s original vision of a vibrant urban park and public space. Free as a part of First Sundays @ OMCA. Meet in front of the Ticketing Desk on Level 2.

We’re welcoming the New Year with the launch of our Winter Season of Viernes Nights @ OMCA, bringing you even expanded DJ sets from the Bay Area’s finest and a new monthly Acoustic Space Concert Series inside the OMCA galleries. This series includes performances on Enero 19, Febrero 16, and Marzo 16, followed by live music outdoors every Viernes starting on Marzo 23 with the launch of our Summer Season.

Viernes Nights @ OMCA is one of Oakland’s favorite things to do and the only after-hours museum night paired with Off the Grid food trucks, bringing you the best of local cuisine along with music, dance, and the whole Museum open late. Enjoy half-price admission, hands-on activities for kids, and a lineup of live music and dance from local performers that changes weekly. White Elephant Preview Sale

Serious shoppers take note: the biggest and best rummage sale in Northern California is returning for its 59th year. The Preview Sale, a one-day event, offers an early chance to take home great finds, including clothing, jewelry, books, tools, art, sports equipment, furniture, household items, and more.

Held in a 96,000-square-foot warehouse at 333 Lancaster Street, near the Oakland Estuary, the Preview Sale offers first dibs on shopping before the public sale on Marzo 3 and 4. Organized and presented by the Oakland Museum Women’s Board, all sale proceeds benefit the Oakland Museum of California.

Advance Preview Sale tickets are available while supplies last at the OMCA Store or online at WhiteElephantSale.org. Preview Sale tickets are $15 in advance in-person at the OMCA Store, $15 online (with a $1 processing fee), or are available at the door for $20 on the day of the Sale.

17th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration and Other Asian Traditions: The Year of the Dog

Join OMCA for the 17th annual Lunar New Year celebration, a fortune-filled family-friendly event to welcome in the Year of the Dog. Explore connections between the diverse Asian cultures represented in California, including Chinese, Tibetan, Korean, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Japanese, and other Asian cultures. VISITOR INFORMATION
Museum admission is $15.95 general; $10.95 seniors and students with valid ID, $6.95 youth ages 9 to 17, and free for children 8 and under and Members. There is a $4 charge in addition to general admission pricing for special exhibitions. OMCA offers onsite underground parking, with validation for Museum visitors, and is conveniently located one block from the Lake Merritt BART station, on the corner of 10th Street and Oak Street.
