Viernes Nights at OMCA celebrates Pride Month with an evening of powerful music, fierce movement, and joyful community connection! Don’t miss a live performance by King Isis, whose emotionally charged set takes audiences on a transformative journey through healing and self-discovery. Blending raw alt-pop with acoustic, R&B, and grunge textures, King Isis brings a performance that is as vulnerable as it is empowering.
Step into your spotlight with a high-energy Vogue Dance Lesson led by Jocquese “Sir JoQ” Whitfield. Rooted in Harlem ballroom culture, Vogue is an expressive dance form filled with sharp lines, dramatic poses, and dynamic floorwork. This class covers the six core elements of Vogue—hands, spins, catwalk, duck walk, dips, and floor performance—along with a warm-up and cultural context. It’s a full-body workout that honors the history and creativity of queer and trans communities of color.
To keep the energy high, DJ Ignacia hits the decks with a genre-blending set designed to move bodies and uplift spirits. Known for creating inclusive, affirming spaces across the country, Ignacia’s live remixes and bold sound curation make every set unforgettable.
Viernes Nights at OMCA also offer guests a well-rounded gallery experience with Gallery Chats. Unlike the traditional museum tour, Gallery Chats invites visitors to chat, ask questions, and connect with our OMCA facilitators, who combine content knowledge with lived experience to encourage meaningful dialogue and fresh interpretations of our exhibitions.

¡Acompáñanos en las «Noches de los viernes en el OMCA», donde toda la ciudad de Oakland se reúne! Todos los viernes, de abril a octubre, trae a tus amigos para disfrutar de una noche inolvidable con música en directo gratuita y actividades para toda la familia. Trae una manta y acomódate en el césped, o aprovecha el acceso exclusivo nocturno a nuestras galerías y exposiciones especiales (se necesitaentrada al museo para acceder a las galerías).
¿Te apetece comer algo? Pásate por cualquiera de las diez furgonetas de comida de Off the Grid que se encuentran en la calle 10, entre las calles Oak y Fallon, y que ofrecen una deliciosa variedad de sabores que van rotando. También se pueden comprar cerveza, vino, cócteles y bebidas sin alcohol. Una vez que hayas repuesto fuerzas, dirígete al OMCA Garden, donde te esperan mesas de picnic y mantas para que disfrutes de tu comida. Con juegos en el césped, interesantes programas del museo y un animado ambiente comunitario, es el escenario perfecto para crear recuerdos en uno de los lugares más emblemáticos de Oakland.
El OMCA también ofrece una tarifa plana de aparcamiento de 10 dólares en el garaje del OMCA hasta las 22:00 h. Ten en cuenta que no se permite el consumo de alcohol traído de fuera, y que los detalles del evento y las actuaciones están sujetos a cambios.

Biografía del artista
Born and raised in Oakland, CA, King Isis (they/she) shape-shifts through sound, blending rock, pop, and whatever else feels right in the moment. Music has been in their blood for generations, learning piano on the keys once played by their great-great-grandmother Omega King, one of the first Black opera singers in Chicago. After years of stringent classical training, they broke free to explore the outer edges, creating music for the misfits and weirdos, for those living outside the margins.
Jocquese “SirJoQ” Whitfield is a San Francisco-born dancer, choreographer, MC, and the city’s first Vogue instructor, teaching their signature Vogue & Tone classes since 2010. Blending freestyle hip-hop with modern, classical, and diasporic dance traditions, their work spans both stage and screen. Signed to Molly House Records, Jocquese’s original music has been featured on Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, HBO’s We’re Here, and Viceland’s My House.
Originally from Illinois, DJ Ignacia is proud to call Oakland home after five years of residence. Six years ago in DC, Ignacia began deep-diving into the world of what it means to be a DJ. They are a lover of many activities; painting, skating, and exercising are just a few of many.
