Guided Gallery Visit – Becoming California

Grades 4–8

How do Californians work together to create a sense of belonging for everyone? Investigate diverse experiences of migration, community, and people who have shaped a rich and dynamic California across centuries. Uncover stories and lessons from the past to use as evidence for how we can create belonging today and into the future.

This is not your typical museum tour! OMCA educators and volunteers will facilitate student-driven investigation of the galleries using program themes and inquiry routines. Students will have time to explore the gallery before coming together at the end to share their findings.

Dates: September 30, 2026–May 28, 2027

Days: Thursdays and Fridays

Times: 9:30 am, 10:45 am. Groups must arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time.

Duration: 60 minutes

Location: Gallery of California History

Fee: $200 / $100 for Title I / Free for OUSD

Registration for 2026/27 school year programs opens June 1 for OUSD, and June 5 for all schools.
