School Programs Facilitator
Help students explore California art, history, and natural sciences during gallery programs at OMCA! As a School Programs Facilitator, you’ll engage students through inquiry and dialogue, and help students make connections between their own lives and the Museum’s galleries and exhibitions. School Programs Facilitators receive training to lead all parts of OMCA’s 60-minute Guided Gallery Visits.
Your Role:
- Welcome and orient school groups to in-gallery inquiry programs
- Support student-driven exploration of galleries through facilitating inquiry and dialogue, in partnership with other volunteers, teachers, and museum staff. Help students make connections to their own lives through storytelling and culturally responsive education practices.
- This role primarily works indoors.
Scheduling:
- Thursdays or Fridays, 9 am-12 pm
- Minimum two shifts per month
Training requirements beyond OMCA volunteer orientation:
- Museums, Facilitation, and Belonging, 2 sessions on Zoom
- 5-week facilitator training series. Our next training series is scheduled for 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesdays, August 28 to September 25, 2025.
