Small Group Facilitator

Small Group Facilitator

Help students explore California art, history, and natural sciences during gallery programs at OMCA! Small Group Facilitators receive training to work with groups of 5-10 students during portions of OMCA’s 60-minute Guided Gallery Visits, with coaching and support from staff and more experienced facilitators. Guided Gallery Visits are based in inquiry and dialogue, and helping students make connections between their own lives and the Museum’s galleries and exhibitions.

Your Role:

  • Facilitate student-driven exploration of galleries through inquiry and dialogue, in partnership with other volunteers, teachers, and museum staff. Help students make connections to their own lives.
  • Using gallery resources, help students look for evidence of key program concepts and model skills in support of program learning objectives.
  • This role primarily works indoors.

Scheduling:

  • Thursdays or Fridays, 9 am-12 pm
  • Minimum two shifts per month

Training requirements beyond OMCA volunteer orientation:

  • Observe a program with students
  • 2-session training. Contact [email protected] for upcoming training dates.
