About Destiny Arts Center

Destiny Arts Center (Destiny) is a pioneering creative youth development organization whose mission is to inspire and ignite social change through the arts. With over 33 years of experience, Destiny brings high-quality arts programming– dance, theater, and martial arts – to foster safe, peaceful, and healthy environments for youth. Our culturally responsive movement arts classes promote wellness, resiliency, and belonging, rooted in violence prevention and our Warrior’s Code values of love, care, respect, honor, responsibility, and peace.

Destiny reaches nearly 2,500 youth annually in Oakland and the greater East Bay through our school and community programs and classes offered at our North Oakland center. Our center provides pay-what-you-can classes grounded in hip hop dance, traditional African dance forms, and martial arts to ages 3-18. We host 30 school and community movement arts residencies, primarily in East and West Oakland. Our award-winning Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company (ages 13-18) and Destiny Junior Company (ages 9-12) reach 20,000 audience members per year.
