OMCA is the place to be when Let’s Lab! lights up our outdoor garden stage with  fresh new musical and lyric artists. Indoors, join OMCA’s Associate Curator of History, Dania Jordan, for a Gallery Activation of the History Gallery. Learn about how Black Americans migrated to California, their settlement patterns, the political and cultural influence(s) they have had in shaping California’s history.

Program Schedule:

5–8 pm – Off the Grid Service
6-8 pm – Music by DJ Sunflowerbaybee (Amphitheater)
6 pm and 6:30 pm – Gallery Activation with Associate Curator of History, Dania Jordan (History Gallery)

About Let’s Lab! and Artists

Let’s Lab is an innovative art platform based in the Bay Area that provides a space for musicians and singers of all kinds to showcase their talent. Through its platform, Let’s Lab! promotes creativity and encourages collaboration among artists, while also providing a unique experience for audiences. Whether you’re a musician or a music lover, Let’s Lab is the perfect place to discover new talent and connect with like-minded individuals in the artistic community.

CIN is a Afro-Mexicana, queer artist whose work focuses on visibility and vulnerability. Her genre could be described as alternative R&B with a zest of sing-rap. Her art, from poetry to music, is directly tied to her activism in the community and creating more safe healing spaces and visibility of Black and Brown communities. Her freestyles become the songs that take you to a moment in her life. A fraction of time from heart ache, to triumph and the angst of the human experience rooted in a spiritual foundation.

Moses Weeden is a multi-hyphenate artist from the East Bay who specializes in music, acting and stand up comedy. He’s an Oakland native who wants to shine light on the importance of storytelling. You can Also catch him starring in season 2 of Blindspotting on Starz!

Lyric is a 25-year-old spoken word poet and physical artist. Lyric is Bay Area based and has traveled and performed in multiple cities throughout California and Michigan. Classified as a Love Poet by Nature, Lyric thrives in spaces where she can connect with her audience and tap into how life mimics the arts. Big on metaphors with an even bigger heart, Lyric makes a point to make every person in the room fall in love with themselves and the surrounding world.

Cyd the creative: Well known as Cyd the creative, she gets her name from her wide range of creative talent. When it comes to music, she uses her lyricism to convey her emotions and life lessons. She uses music as an escape and hopes those who connect to her sound can do the same.

Katie Paige is an Oakland based queer R&B/soul singer-songwriter known for her emotive and powerful vocal performances. With a passion for connecting with her audience on a deep emotional level, Katie weaves together heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies that resonate with listeners from all walks of life. Drawing on her personal experiences and struggles, Katie’s music serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, encouraging others to find their own voice, and embrace their true selves.

About Friday Nights:

Reconnect with family, friends, and community at OMCA every Friday night. These free events provide a gathering place to come together each week, including live music, hands-on activities, and Off the Grid food trucks. Take advantage of late-night access to our galleries and special exhibitions with a Museum ticket.
