The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA)
will host Home Movie Day 2012 on Friday, October 26, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Museum’s state-of-the-art
James Moore Theater. An international program
observed by over 50 cities and 13 countries worldwide, Home Movie Day is an initiative of the Center for
Home Movies that highlights the cultural
significance of home movies and the need to properly preserve them as artifacts of culture.
OMCA encourages the public to submit their films for screening at Home Movie Day. In honor of OMCA’s exhibition Forgotten Stories, Remarkable Lives: Dias de los Muertos 2012, on view October 10 through December 9 in OMCA’s Great Hall, applicants are especially encouraged to submit films honoring loved ones that have passed away and remembering local heroes and heroines who may not have made it into history books but have made an impact in their communities.
