Art for Change
Rocky Rivera, Journalist and Emcee

The songs I chose were seminal in centering my identity around art for change and using music as a means to critique politics and world affairs. They also empowered my own creative processes and taught me how to use emotion to convey storytelling for a collective purpose.
Rocky Rivera is a journalist-turned-emcee whose editorials appeared in XXL, The Source and Rolling Stone Magazine before she decided to perfect her own musical craft. Trading her moleskines for microphones, she’s dropped three musical projects since 2008, Married to the Hustle Mixtape, the self-titled album, Rocky Rivera, and the POP KILLER MXTP.
