Days of the Dead Performance
Black History Month Performance

Note: School groups are welcome to explore Museum galleries and special exhibitions for free with purchase of a performance. Please leave time before or after your scheduled performance time if your group is interested in this option.


Grades K–12
Celebrate Días de los Muertos and California’s cultural roots with professional performance group Cascada de Flores. This bilingual and participatory performance will include lively song, stories, ancient musical instruments, and dance. Students will discover Days of the Dead traditions of celebrating lost loved ones while learning more about each other.

Dates: October 25 & 26 and November 1 & 2, 2018
Days: Thursday and Friday
Times: 10 am for Grades K–5, 11:30 am for Grades 6–12

Fees: $5 per person. A ticket must be purchased for every student and chaperone. Oakland School District schools may use a code to receive 30% off.

Grades K–8
Experience this fun, interactive Black History Month performance that acknowledges a history of oppression and celebrates the dreams and contributions of African Americans. Presented by professional a cappella group SoVoSó, students will learn about musicians and leaders in Black history, and discover how music is a way to communicate the challenges and hopes of all people—past, present, and future. 

Dates: February 13–15 and 20–22, 2019
Days: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Times: 10 am for Grades K–3, 11:30 am for Grades 4–8 (no 11:30 am performances on February 13 and 20)

Fees: $5 per person. A ticket must be purchased for every student and chaperone. Oakland School District schools may use a code to receive 30% off.
