We distribute millions of healthy meals every year\, and are at the forefront of new approaches to ending hunger and poverty. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About Aguacero (Bomba Puertorriqueña)\n				\n				                    Aguacero is an artistic\, educational\, and cultural project that focuses on the traditions and creative expressions of Puerto Rican Bomba music and dance. Aguacero means downpour\, one that arrives suddenly and is usually followed by a refreshing sky clearing and a gust of sunshine. The spirit and practice of Bomba\, like an aguacero\, is intense\, transformative\, and promotes cultural healing. Through song\, music\, and dance\, Aguacero embodies the life\, energy\, and continuity of water in nature as a metaphor for the continuity of the oral histories of our ancestors. Aguacero came together in 2006 as a collective of skilled Bay Area dancers\, musicians\, poets\, and songwriters practicing\, studying\, and performing Bomba and other Puerto Rican and Caribbean folkloric traditions. Aguacero’s vision is to create and share new original works in Bomba and to affirm perspectives and expressions of the genre rooted in the teachings of our maestros and ancestors. The collective has performed at numerous festivals and Universities throughout California\, including the San Jose\, Oakland\, and Alameda County Puerto Rican Day Festivals\, as well as UC Berkeley\, Sonoma State University\, and Humboldt State University. In 2016\, Aguacero was featured at the BomPlenazo in New York City. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About Per Sia\n				\n				                    Per Sia comes with a pedigree from weekly performances at the late\, iconic Esta Noche. Her trajectory has gone on to include art curation\, stand-up\, television\, and maybe a quinceañera or two\, in San Francisco\, Los Angeles\, and México. Per Sia is currently a regular performer in the nationally acclaimed “Drag Story Hour” as well as an educator-in-residence at an after-school arts program in the San Francisco Unified School District\, profiled on KQED Arts\, National Public Radio\, and CNN. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About DJ Lady Ryan\n				\n				                    Lady Ryan is a Bay Area favorite—inspiring a sense of safety\, joy\, and belonging as a spiritual conductor and dedicated professional. Her passion for music can be heard throughout the Bay Area and beyond\, whether she’s energizing the crowd at Warriors games\, hosting one of her celebrated Soulovely or Sweetspot parties\, or gracing the airwaves of 91.7 KALW in San Francisco. In 2023\, Lady Ryan was voted the best DJ in the Bay Area by the Bay Area Reporter Magazine and was honored by the City of Oakland for her leadership in the LGBTQ music and arts community. This honor was bestowed within the affirmation of the City of Oakland’s commitment to the liberation of queer and trans people and the intersectional approach to liberation\, principles of equality\, and inclusion for all. Lady Ryan has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Diana Ross\, George Clinton\, Erykah Badu\, Journey\, Indigo Girls\, and Anderson Paak. Many of the members of the collective have contributed heavily to the formation of the Bay Area Cumbia scene\, which they have proudly represented at major festivals and venues nationally and internationally. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About Mireille Ruiz\n				\n				                    Mireille Ruiz\, born and raised in Mexico City\, grew up dancing and listening to Latin music as part of her culture\, including Cumbia. She learned her first following techniques dancing with her father in every family fiesta. She has a Mexican folklore\, jazz\, tap dancing\, and gymnastics background\, and grew up performing since the age of four. She is also a percussionist\, drummer\, and Montessori teacher. A Bay Area Bachata\, Cumbia\, and Salsa dance instructor\, Mireille has been teaching\, performing\, and leading dance teams around the USA since 2010. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About Koma-T\n				\n				                    Koma-T\, a gifted mix master and international open-format DJ\, is also a data scientist in tech by day and known for hosting parties in San Francisco and Oakland. Don’t miss a live performance by ASTU\, whose captivating voice and raw emotional presence take center stage alongside a genre-defying live band. With a sound that blends soulful vocals\, magnetic vulnerability\, and powerful instrumentation\, ASTU delivers a performance that’s as intimate as it is electrifying. \n\n\n\nIn the Gallery of California Art\, Sketchboard Co. invites you to dive into your creativity with uninstructed Live Figure Drawing! It’s a perfect opportunity to create something personal and unique while soaking in the Museum’s atmosphere. \n\n\n\nWe welcome all skill levels\, including those who have never drawn before and want to try drawing. Art supplies and clipboards will be available for use\, and your artwork will be yours to take home or exchange with others. A costumed model representing the diversity of the Bay Area will be posing in the Gallery of California Art for times ranging from 2 to 20 minutes.  Since drawing will take place in the galleries\, please be mindful of space and bring only the following media from home: sketchbooks (max size 9×12 inches) and pre-sharpened enclosed graphite\, charcoal\, or conté pencils. \n\n\n\nMani Draper rounds out the night with a cinematic DJ set that weaves together soulful beats and carefully curated tracks from across decades and genres. Part retro soul\, part nineties R&B pastiche\, part New Wave-inspired synth-pop\, ASTU’s music refuses to pledge allegiance to a single vibe. The vocalist\, songwriter\, and producer has the ability to find an easy\, irresistible groove and turn it into an unhurried banger. A queer and gender expansive artist\, ASTU left life as a minister and found themself in R&B\, expressing their sexuality\, identity and life experience in their music. Rooted in Harlem ballroom culture\, Vogue is an expressive dance form filled with sharp lines\, dramatic poses\, and dynamic floorwork. This class covers the six core elements of Vogue—hands\, spins\, catwalk\, duck walk\, dips\, and floor performance—along with a warm-up and cultural context. Grab a bite from any of the ten Off the Grid food trucks lining 10th Street between Oak and Fallon Streets\, offering a delicious mix of rotating flavors. Beer\, wine\, mixed drinks\, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase. Once you’ve fueled up\, head to the OMCA Garden\, where picnic tables and blankets await you to enjoy your meal. With lawn games\, engaging museum programs\, and a vibrant community atmosphere\, it’s the perfect setting for making memories at one of Oakland’s most iconic spots. \n\n\n\nOMCA also offers a $10 flat-rate parking in the OMCA Garage until 10 pm. Music has been in their blood for generations\, learning piano on the keys once played by their great-great-grandmother Omega King\, one of the first Black opera singers in Chicago. After years of stringent classical training\, they broke free to explore the outer edges\, creating music for the misfits and weirdos\, for those living outside the margins. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About Jocquese “Sir JoQ” Whitfield\n				\n				                    Jocquese “SirJoQ” Whitfield is a San Francisco-born dancer\, choreographer\, MC\, and the city’s first Vogue instructor\, teaching their signature Vogue & Tone classes since 2010. Blending freestyle hip-hop with modern\, classical\, and diasporic dance traditions\, their work spans both stage and screen. Signed to Molly House Records\, Jocquese’s original music has been featured on Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour\, HBO’s We’re Here\, and Viceland’s My House. \n\n				\n				\n            \n\n        \n\n    \n	\n        \n            \n\n			\n            \n				\n				                    About DJ Ignacia\n				\n				                    Originally from Illinois\, DJ Ignacia is proud to call Oakland home after five years of residence.
