DESCRIPTION:Introductory Basketry Workshop with Jennifer Bates (Northern Sierra Mewuk)\n\n        \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for Gallery Chats\, an opportunity to chat with and ask questions of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable OMCA Facilitators. Gallery Chats put a twist on the traditional museum tour by encouraging meaningful conversations and fresh interpretations to connect with the artwork\, artifacts\, and stories in our galleries. \n\n\n\nGallery Chats take place in our Special Exhibitions every Saturday from 1 to 3 pm and are included with Museum and Special Exhibition admission. No reservation necessary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGET MUSEUM ADMISSION TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOMCA Members have access to special Member Tours every second Saturday of the month from noon to 1 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\nOakland Museum of California (OMCA) is committed to providing programs that are accessible\, welcoming\, and inclusive of our community. Wheelchairs\, sensory inclusive devices\, and additional amenities are available for checkout on a first come\, first served basis at the Ticketing Desk. DESCRIPTION:Introductory Basketry Workshop with Jennifer Bates (Northern Sierra Mewuk)\n\n        \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMember Tours: Gallery Walk with Preparator Supervisor and Taxidermist\, Alicia Goode\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Alicia Goode\, Preparator Supervisor and Taxidermist\, as she leads us on a tour of OMCA’s Gallery of California Natural Sciences. The tour will showcase the beautiful and intricate dioramas\, along with other displays and specimens she has helped to design and create for the Museum. This is a unique experience to learn from a professional taxidermist and museum preparator who oversees the maintenance of the permanent natural science exhibits at OMCA. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBECOME A MEMBER\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that tour spots are limited. A sign up sheet will be available at the Ticketing Desk when checking in so get here early to grab your spot! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitator\n\n\n\n\n\nAlicia Goode is an award-winning wildlife artist and museum professional living in Oakland\, California. She has worked in the Natural History field since 1996 and has had an interest in the earth sciences from the time she was old enough to screw the lid on a jelly jar. Alicia has been working at the Oakland Museum of California since 2010\, where she leads preparation activities in the Gallery of California Natural Sciences\, as well as OMCA’s California Collections and Research Center. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\nOakland Museum of California (OMCA) is committed to providing programs that are accessible\, welcoming\, and inclusive of our community.
