Bring an object\, a photo\, a writing or just share a story that symbolizes your culture and wisdom as you experience it right now in Oakland. Guests are empowered to imagine: “What would you want future generations to know about life in Oakland today?”  \n\n\n\nGold Beams photographer Dorean Raye will photograph your object and develop a digital archive of the stories in a portal on the Gold Beams website. The Oakland Public Library History Center will produce a printed version for their shelves that will live on for generations to come.  \n\n\n\nMeanwhile don’t miss electrifying emcee King Langstyn\, live music by Dani Offline and Beatnik Scum\, and high energy DJ Ignacia. Emcee King Langstyn creates a space for all to interact in a genuine\, real-life way\, bringing a lifetime of experience as a mixed-media artist\, stand-up comic\, and producer. Singer\, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dani Offline is known for an elastic voice and smooth lyrical flow. Rap artist Beatnik Scum rocks the crowd with an emotionally raw\, and vulnerable performance that hits the soul. Jewels on a necklace. Instead\, she swathes herself with the fruits of her craft. Each song is an invitation to tumble into a dreamscape: diaphanous\, evocative\, and realer than the waking world. Her lyrical flow\, elastic voice\, and lush production intertwine into sonic experiences as natural as spring water: mesmerizing to behold\, sweet to drink from.About Beatnik ScumFollowing the release of “Death Coast”\, Beatnik organized an epic show for his fans at the Guild Theatre in Oak Park that consisted of lines out the doors\, Beatnik chants\, and sold out scum merchandise. A huge success\, this was just the beginning of Beatnik’s stage journey. \n\n\n\nOver the course of several months\, the local artist scene got wind of Beatnik Scum and he began performing at numerous venues in Sacramento’s Downtown scene. He then went on to host another show in August 2022\, selling out the Starlet Room @ Harlows performing his newest\, unreleased album “Inner Thoughts”. He rocked the crowd with an emotionally raw\, and vulnerable performance that hit the soul and left fans feeling connected and seen in their internal struggles and battles against mental health. \n\n\n\nBeatnik continues to take the stage\, and has taken his work out-of-town and out-of-state performing in Ohio\, Los Angeles\, Oakland\, and more.About DJ Ignacia DJ Ignacia is an energy curator unlike you’ve ever heard before. Her genre could be described as alternative R&B with a zest of sing-rap. Her art\, from poetry to music\, is directly tied to her activism in the community and creating more safe healing spaces and visibility of Black and Brown communities. Her freestyles become the songs that take you to a moment in her life. A fraction of time from heart ache\, to triumph and the angst of the human experience rooted in a spiritual foundation. \n\n\n\nMoses Weeden is a multi-hyphenate artist from the East Bay who specializes in music\, acting and stand up comedy. He’s an Oakland native who wants to shine light on the importance of storytelling. You can Also catch him starring in season 2 of Blindspotting on Starz! \n\n\n\nLyric is a 25-year-old spoken word poet and physical artist. Lyric is Bay Area based and has traveled and performed in multiple cities throughout California and Michigan. Classified as a Love Poet by Nature\, Lyric thrives in spaces where she can connect with her audience and tap into how life mimics the arts. Big on metaphors with an even bigger heart\, Lyric makes a point to make every person in the room fall in love with themselves and the surrounding world. \n\n\n\nCyd the creative: Well known as Cyd the creative\, she gets her name from her wide range of creative talent. When it comes to music\, she uses her lyricism to convey her emotions and life lessons. She uses music as an escape and hopes those who connect to her sound can do the same. \n\n\n\nKatie Paige is an Oakland based queer R&B/soul singer-songwriter known for her emotive and powerful vocal performances. With a passion for connecting with her audience on a deep emotional level\, Katie weaves together heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies that resonate with listeners from all walks of life. If Sly Stone\, Jimi Hendrix\, Chrissie Hynde\, and Chaka Khan all jammed together\, this band would be the result.  \n\n\n\nAt Friday Nights at OMCA\, Skip the Needle will play an hour-long set of original music\, including tracks from their upcoming EP\, Octavia of Earth\, Volume 2\, a docu-musical inspired by the life of black feminist writer Octavia E. DJ Ren is widely known for his eclectic musical selections and is a highly respected and influential figure in the hip-hop and music community\, known for his passion\, creativity\, and commitment to preserving the legacy of hip hop. \n\n\n\nAbout Skip the Needle\n\n\n\nSkip The Needle is an Oakland-based queer female quartet made up of musical superstars of the Bay Area; Vicki Randle (The Tonight Show\, Mavis Staples Band) Shelley Doty (Shelly Doty X-Tet\, Sistas in the Pit)\, Kofy Brown (Kofy Brown Band\, Sistas in the Pit) and Katie Cash (Katie Cash Band\, Year of the Fist). Together\, they make politically astute hard rock funk. Their songs are musically diverse and carry a strong\, socially conscious message that wants the audience to party while hearing it. Formed in 2014\, STN has released two full-length albums and is thrilled to have contributed 6 original tracks for Octavia Of Earth Volume 2. \n\n\n\nAbout DJ Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist\n\n\n\nAs a Bay Area resident from New York\, Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist (aka Renoir) made his mark as the founder of True Skool (est. ’99). Originally a party which featured Hip Hop legends\, emerging artists and world-class turntablists\, the brand has evolved into an urban music entertainment guide and event marketing company. As a DJ\, Ren is known for his eclectic and diverse musical selections. He has shared billing with world-renowned artists\, such as Z-Trip\, Jazzy Jeff\, Q-Bert\, Mixmaster Mike\, Wu-Tang Clan\, Black Thought\, Rakim\, KRS-One\, to name a few.
