Friday, February 28, 2014 - 5:00pm

Join the Oakland community during Friday Nights @ OMCA for the unveiling and celebration of a new major public art project, the ‘We Dream in Art’ mural on Oak and 12th Streets!

For the last six months, OMCA’s community engagement team, OMCA Connect, has been attending community events and festivals, asking Oaklanders to answer the question “What is your dream for your community?” and collecting their responses in the form of collage squares. The mural is a combination of the citizen art collected and photographs of the many faces of our community.

The mural was created with the help of artists and collaborators, including partner organizations YMCA of the East Bay, Oakland Asian Cultural Center, Eastside Arts Alliance, and the Alameda County Arts Commission, as well as the communities they serve, and in partnership with 100 Families Alameda County, a program of the Alameda County Arts Commission through the support and shared vision of New Beginnings.
