El Museo de Oakland de California anuncia un programa especial de yoga y música en directo dentro de la aclamada exposición de otoño Nature's Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown

(Oakland, CA) Octubre 24, 2017 — On Miércoles, Diciembre 6, the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) will bring a yoga experience unlike any other inside the new popular exhibition Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown. With a larger-than-life sculpture by fine art collaborative FriendsWithYou as an illuminating backdrop, attendees of this special Showga and OMCA event will participate in a multi-sensory yoga class featuring live music by Oakland-based musicians Sugar Candy Mountain. The event is a special one-night-only edition of the monthly Showga program, held regularly at Oakland’s Starline Social Club.

After the one-hour yoga class, guests will be treated to a late-night after party, including free drinks, light bites from Aburaya Oakland, and a scoop of OMCA’s exclusive ice cream flavor, Diebencorn, by Humphry Slocombe, who recently opened a new Oakland location. Attendees will also have special access to explore OMCA’s popular new exhibition Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown after class.

Nature’s Gift is an immersive exhibition that blurs the lines between imagination and reality, with a larger-than-life, LED glowing sculpture that rotates with a rainbow of color in an otherwise dimly-lit room. The whimsical environment inspires creativity and relaxation, and ignites joy.

“With this special exhibition, we created an alternate experience for our community, offering an awe-inspiring space to connect with friends—and make new friends—in a unique environment,” said Carin Adams, exhibition curator and OMCA curator of art. “Showga is a perfect example of this—we’re creating an exciting experience inside our exhibition, offering a new way to interact and have fun in the space. We hope everyone will leave feeling joyful and uplifted from the practice and the environment.”

Doors open at 6 pm, with limited mats available for rental. Attendees must be 21 or older. Early-bird tickets to Showga at OMCA are $39.95 through Noviembre 8. Regularly-priced tickets and at-the-door tickets are $45. Tickets are available at museumca.org/showga.

Museum admission is $15.95 general; $10.95 seniors and students with valid ID, $6.95 youth ages 9 to 17, and free for Members and children 8 and under.
