Together\, they will take you through a musical journey: from medicinal music created with the acoustic ngoni\, a traditional West African stringed instrument\, to spoken word and prayerformance (prayer + performance) to conscious reggae and hip hop over booming beats. \n\n\n\nAbout Sage & Cedar \n\n\n\nAshEL SeaSunZ Eldridge is Chicago born\, living in Oakland by way of NY\, and of West African/Blackfoot ancestry. AshEL has been working intentionally with various shamanic practices since 2005. Their work in ceremonial leadership includes Dagrara divinatory and ancestral healing\, Japanese spiritual purification\, and Galactic Language Activation/soul cleansing via Tian Gong. Solestial Church is not only a community of medicine music\, but a movement for soul restoration\, the re-indigenization of our world\, and the liberation of humanity. As Co-founder and Co-Director of Essential Food and Medicine \, they re-indigenize the community’s relationship to land\, food and medicine working with the houseless\, reservations\, and incarcerated. \n\n\n\nDr. Ietef “DJ Cavem” Vita is a Grammy-nominated music educator\, father of eco-hip hop\, Co-founder of “Plantega\,” and a celebrity vegan chef with a Ph.D. in Urban Ecology. Seen in Leonardo DiCaprio’s documentary\, Ice on Fire\, this “Thrillist Hero award” winner was mentioned in Forbes\, Oprah & People for songs about climate action & food justice. His 2022 EP\, KONCRETE GARDEN\, is an interactive organic seed pack album that includes a QR code and growing instructions to spur listeners into action in urban farming.  \n\n\n\nAbout DJ Siyah \n\n\n\nAfter falling in love with linguistics through music at the age of 5\, Siyah Ndawela Mgoduka has been diving deep into a wide variety of music ever since. From Hip Hop and RnB\, to Jazz and Neo Soul to House\, Electro\, Kwiato\, and Future Kwaito\, his hunt for music does not stop there. With a decade of DJ experience\, Siyah Ndawela Mgoduka understands when it’s necessary to let “the plan” fade away once the mood takes over. His international travel and South African roots are undeniable as he takes you through a journey from the streets of Cape Town\, to the nightclubs of Berlin\, and the iconic backdrop of Brooklyn. Dare you to dance harder than he does. \n\n\n\nAccessibility The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is committed to providing programs that are accessible\, welcoming\, and inclusive of our community.
