DESCRIPTION:Friday Nights at OMCA with The Whoadees and Special Guests\n\n        \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDJ Teao Sense; Film Screening of Groundworks; Oakland Public Library’s Bike Library \n\n\n\nSchedule of events \n\n\n\n5–8 pm – Off The Grid food trucks\, 10th Street \n\n\n\n5:30 pm – Oakland Public Bike Library\, Koret Plaza \n\n\n\n6–7 pm – Groundworks film screening\, James Moore Theater \n\n\n\n6–8 pm – DJ Teao Sense\, Amphitheater \n\n\n\n7–7:30 pm – Artist panel and musical offering by L.Frank\, Ras K’dee\, Esmé Olivia\, and Bernadette Smith\, James Moore Theater \n\n\n\nAt 6 pm\, join us in the James Moore Theater for a screening of Groundworks\, a documentary that brings viewers into the lives of four California Native contemporary artists\, musicians\, dancers\, and cultural activists. While weaving together these artists’ stories and their contemporary ways of sharing traditional knowledge\, the documentary considers issues of land management\, water rights\, and food security—concerns for all Americans\, especially in an age of climate change. \n\n\n\nFollowing the film screening will be a short musical offering and panel discussion about the film.  \n\n\n\nDJ Teao Sense will be playing in the Amphitheater from 6 to 8 pm. Make sure to stop by Oakland Public Library’s Bike Library to grab a free book\, sign up for a library card\, and find out about upcoming library events. \n\n\n\n*Performances are subject to change. \n\n\n\n\n      \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Friday Nights:\n\n\n\nReconnect with family\, friends\, and community at OMCA every Friday night. These free events provide a gathering place to come together each week\, including live music\, hands-on activities\, and Off the Grid food trucks. Take advantage of late-night access to our galleries and special exhibitions with a Museum ticket\, or bring a blanket and lounge in our garden\, now open with direct access to Lake Merritt. \n\n\n\nPlease note\, alcoholic beverages must be consumed inside the OMCA campus and outside alcohol is not permitted. \n\n\n\nOMCA is committed to providing programs that are accessible\, welcoming\, and inclusive of our community. Assistive listening devices and wheelchairs are available for checkout on a first come\, first served basis at the Ticketing Desk.
