DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED—Friday Nights at OMCASpecial Members Lounge\n\n        \n    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday Nights at OMCA brings back a Thursday After Hours special\, Sketchboard Live Drawing! This Friday OMCA invites visitors to bring their sketch pads and appetites and get creative in the Museum’s Gallery of California Art with live drawing sessions. \n\n\n\nOMCA welcomes all skill levels\, including those who have never drawn before and want to try drawing. Art supplies and clipboards will be available for use\, and your artwork will be yours to take home or exchange with others. A costumed model representing the diversity of the Bay Area will be posing in the Gallery of California Art for times ranging from 2 to 20 minutes. Since drawing will take place in the gallery\, please be mindful of the space and bring only the following media from home: sketchbooks (max size 9×12 inches) and pre-sharpened enclosed graphite or charcoal pencils. \n\n\n\nSketching in the gallery is first come\, first served and is included with the price of general Museum Gallery access and free for Museum Members. Between drawing sessions the excellent mixings of Bay Area favorite\, DJ Ron Reeser as well as a special performance by MacArthur Maze happening on the main Garden Stage will be sure to get you moving.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram Schedule:\n\n\n\n5—9 pm  Core Galleries and Special Exhibitions  evening hours with Museum ticket \n\n\n\n5:30—6:15 pm Sketchboard Live Drawing | Gallery of California Art \n\n\n\n6—7 pm  MacArthur Maze | The Garden Stage  \n\n\n\n6:45—7:30 pm Sketchboard Live Drawing | Gallery of California Art  \n\n\n\n6:45—8:45 pm DJ Ron Reeser  | Amphitheater  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Friday Nights:\n\n\n\nGather with family\, friends\, and community every Friday at 5 pm for free live music and hands-on activities\, Off the Grid food trucks\, and late night access to our galleries and special exhibitions\, with a Museum ticket. \n\n\n\nBring your own or grab dinner from any one of the 8 Off the Grid food trucks on 10th Street between Oak and Fallon Streets. Beer\, wine\, mixed and non-alcoholic drinks are available for sale. After grabbing a meal from a wide and weekly changing menu of culinary creations\, head to the OMCA Garden where you’ll find picnic tables and blankets to enjoy your local eats. Play lawn and table games\, enjoy weekly rotating Museum programming\, and create new memories at one of the Town’s most treasured spaces right in the heart of Oakland. \n\n\n\nNo outside alcohol permitted. Performances are subject to change. Spearheaded by their tenured turntablist/producer\, DJ D Sharp\, Mac Maze is comprised of five emcees (Blvck Achilles\, Champ Green\, D.Bledsoe\, Ian Kelly\, & Roux Shankle)\, and four producers (DJ D Sharp\, S. Kaminski\, DJ Basta\, & NOBL). Given the game and entrepreneurial spirit made famous in the Bay\, MacArthur Maze has the makings of something uniquely special and necessary. While reality is the basis for their overarching themes\, love and community are ever present in their messaging and visuals. All members contributing their respective specialized talents at the highest levels creates a maze you’d be reluctant to want to find your way out of. \n\n\n\n\n\nSketchboard is a BIPOC figure drawing collective\, curating eclectic\, diverse\, and affordable events in the Bay Area over the last 10 years. Their mission is to feature the bodies of people at the intersection of multiple identities\, offer living wages to our art models\, and create an inclusive environment for the artists in Sketchboard’s community. \n\n\n\n\n\nImmerse in the pulsating rhythms of the global electronic music scene with Ron Reeser. His signature Tech House sound consistently infiltrates DJ sets across the globe. An American DJ and producer\, Ron Reeser\, originally hailing from the vibrant backdrop of the San Francisco Bay Area\, boasts an dynamic discography that spans esteemed labels such as Sony\, Ultra Music\, Sirup\, and Pyro Records.
