SUMMARY:Friday Nights at OMCA Featuring Earth Day Activities
DESCRIPTION:Friday Nights at OMCA with The Whoadees and Special Guests\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExplore California’s native flora through art and storytelling in the OMCA Garden. \n\n\n\nProgram Schedule:  \n\n\n\n5–8 pm – Off the Grid Service (10th Street) \n\n\n\n6–8 pm – Music by DJ Benet (Amphitheater) \n\n\n\n5–8 pm – Earth Day Hands-On Activities  (Garden) \n\n\n\n6–6:25 pm – Stories for a Healthy Planet by Bowen Lyam Lee (Garden\, under Oak Tree) \n\n\n\n6:30 –7 pm – Stories for a Healthy Planet by Bowen Lyam Lee (Garden\, under Oak Tree) \n\n\n\nExplore the OMCA Garden and discover the unique flora and foliage of the Foothill Oak Woodland\, Chaparral\, and Redwood Forest regions of California. Create art inspired by California’s native plants and learn about Earth Day events going on in the Bay Area this month.  \n\n\n\nListen to stories and have conversations beneath the Oak Tree about the actions we can take to help solve climate change. People lived sustainably for centuries without taxing the environment or changing the climate of the planet. Could it be the stories they listened to? There’s a lot of wisdom still in those traditional tales that we can learn from today to help balance our planet and reverse environmental damage. \n\n\n\nCome say hello to Stomper from the Oakland A’s and wish them luck this baseball season! \n\n\n\nDJ Benet will be playing in the Amphitheater from 6 to 8 pm.  \n\n\n\nAbout Bowen Lyam Lee\n\n\n\nBowen Lyam Lee lives in Monterey\, CA\, a fifth generation Chinese American born and raised in Oakland. She has been a teacher for 36 years\, incorporating storytelling into all aspects of teaching\, specializing in blending natural and cultural history together. She knows that change occurs through the perspective altering interchange of dialogue\, and does what she can to promote healthy dialogue among people. \n\n\n\nAbout Friday Nights:\n\n\n\nReconnect with family\, friends\, and community at OMCA every Friday night. These free events provide a gathering place to come together each week\, including live music\, hands-on activities\, and Off the Grid food trucks.
