OMCA Receives the Heart of Oakland Award

The Oakland Museum of California is honored to be the recipient of the Heart of Oakland award by the Oakland Chamber of Commerce.

The Oakland Museum of California is honored to be the recipient of the Heart of Oakland award by the Oakland Chamber of Commerce. Each year, the award is given to a local organization that exemplifies the city’s persistent spirit. Director and CEO Lori Fogarty accepted the honor at the 2019 Chamber Awards on June 26.

“We are committed to being a place where everyone feels a sense of welcome and belonging, sees their stories reflected and learns the stories of others, and connects with their neighbors, both people like them and maybe not like them. To being the ‘heart of Oakland.’ We appreciate this honor and look forward to being a part of Oakland’s future for many years to come,” Fogarty said as she accepted the award on behalf of the Museum.

The staff at OMCA is thankful to receive such a meaningful award as we continue the work of being a Museum of the people.
