Free Re-Opening Weekend

Friday, June 18–Sunday, June 20, 11 am–5 pm
Friday, June 18, 2021 - 11:00am

Update: OMCA's re-opening weekend, June 18–20, is now sold out. Please check out our available timed tickets for the following weekends. First Sundays of the month are always free.

The moment has finally arrived for us to welcome you back to our campus and galleries and we can't wait to see you! We’ve been hard at work making our campus and galleries safe. To celebrate our re-opening, we’re offering free weekend access from June 18 to June 20. Rediscover our Galleries of California Art, History, and Natural Sciences, along with our newly-renovated gardens.

As part of our ongoing “Art For the Movement” collaboration with the Black Cultural Zone, Oakland Art Murmur, and other local organizations, OMCA will host the creation of a mural by a collective of five Black artists over our re-opening weekends, June 11–13 (Members Premiere) and June 18–20 (free community weekend).

Artists DeVonte Brooks, Deana Brownfield, Malik Byers, Lauryn Marshall, and Refa One will be creating the mural onsite in OMCA’s garden, where visitors can watch the artists as they create. The artwork will be installed at a later date in a location selected by the artists in a predominantly Black neighborhood, as they explain "aligning in the spirit of Juneteenth, Black self-determination, and preserving Black Futures."

We encourage all visitors to reserve a timed ticket online in advance to secure their preferred time slot.
