Donor Forum | Dorothea Lange: Photography as Activism

Thursday, February 6, 6:30–8:30 pm | Gallery of California Art
Thursday, February 6, 2020 - 6:30pm

Donor Forum members are invited to join special guest Elizabeth Partridge in conversation with OMCA Curator of Photography and Visual Culture Drew Johnson for an evening celebrating the work of  world-renowned photographer Dorothea Lange. Partridge’s father worked as Lange's assistant, and the two families grew close over the course of their work together. She has also written several books about the iconic photographer.

Join us to hear Patridge’s perspective of Lange’s photography as a form of activism, as well as the lasting impact of Lange’s work and how her connection to her subjects motivated her depictions of the social injustices of her time.

This event celebrates Dorothea Lange: Photography as Activism, the newly expanded section in the Gallery of California Art dedicated to Dorothea Lange's personal photography archive, which was gifted to OMCA over 50 years ago.

Donor Forum members can RSVP by January 31 to rsvp@museumca.org or 510-318-8502.

This event is hosted for Donor Forum members in appreciation of the philanthropic support provided to OMCA. For more information about joining Donor Forum please contact Emily Kokernak, Individual Giving Manager, at 510-318-8517 or ekokernak@museumca.org.
