Friday Nights at OMCA is one of Oakland's favorite things to do, bringing you the best of local cuisine along with music, dance, and the whole Museum open late. Enjoy hands-on activities for kids and a lineup of live music and dance from local performers that changes weekly. Bring friends and family for a taste of local music, food, and culture at the Oakland Museum of California every Friday Night!

Late Night Gallery Hours

5–10 pm: Galleries Open Late
Explore the Museum’s 110,000 square feet of gallery space until 10 pm, including hands-on exhibitions with interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy.

5–9 pm: Queer California Film Series
Join us for special late-night screenings of rare films exploring untold stories of California’s LGBTQ+ communities, in conjunction with special exhibition Queer California: Untold Stories. Check the schedule here for tonight’s showtimes and film descriptions.

Included with Museum special exhibition admission. There is an additional $5 charge for special exhibition Queer California: Untold Stories

7:30–7:45 pm: Snack-Sized Docent Tour
Visit the Ticketing Desk on Level 2 to discover the meeting location.
Join a lively fifteen-minute mini-tour led by a talented OMCA Docent with a surprise theme each time. Included with Museum admission.

Gardens
In honor of Pride month, create your own colorful pin to wear or give as a gift. Inspired by Queer California: Untold Stories, on view through August 11, 2019.

6–7 pm: Queer California Drag Family Storytime
Great Hall
Hip-Hop drag troupe Momma’s Boyz Entertainment will be reading a few charming children's books during this special edition of Family Storytime. Program participants will enjoy treats, face-painting, a rainbow flag art activity, and wrap up with a mini parade.

6–7:30 pm: Oakland Youth Poet Laureate 2019 Finale
James Moore Theater
Join the Oakland Public Library for the Oakland Youth Poet Laureate Finale, an evening of truth and talent.  All 2019 Finalists will perform and the 2019 Laureate will be announced.

This event is free and open to the public.

Directions

OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $7 flat fee after 5 pm. Museum garage closes at 11 pm.

Food and drink are not allowed inside the galleries unless otherwise designated.
