Sit back and unwind at Friday Nights at OMCA, bringing you the best of local cuisine along with music, dance, and late-night access to the entire Museum. Enjoy hands-on activities for kids and a lineup of live music and dance from different local performers each week. Bring friends and family for a taste of local music, food, and culture at the Oakland Museum of California every Friday Night!

Late Night Gallery Hours

5–10 pm: Galleries Open Late
Explore the Museum’s 110,000 square feet of gallery space until 10 pm, including hands-on exhibitions with interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy.

7:30–9 pm: Queer California Film Series
Join us for special late-night screenings of rare films exploring untold stories of California’s LGBTQ+ communities, in conjunction with special exhibition Queer California: Untold Stories. Check the schedule here for tonight’s showtimes and film descriptions.

Included with Museum special exhibition admission. There is an additional $5 charge for special exhibition Queer California: Untold Stories

7:30–7:45 pm: Snack-Sized Docent Tour
Visit the Ticketing Desk on Level 2 to discover the meeting location.
Join a lively fifteen-minute mini-tour led by a talented OMCA Docent with a surprise theme each time. Included with Museum admission.

Family Activities

5–8 pm: Make a Faux Daguerreotype
Gardens
Smile for the camera! Create your own faux daguerreotype print, inspired by Pushing West: The Photography of Andrew J. Russell, on view now. The daguerreotype process was the first publicly-available photographic process, introduced in the 1800s.

 

Local Food and Drink

5–10 pm: Off the Grid Food Trucks
10th Street
Enjoy a rotating lineup of local gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid.

5–9:30 pm: Blue Oak Beer Garden
Level 1
Enjoy beer and wine specials from local makers.

Kick back and relax with seating available on 10th Street, the 10th Street Amphitheater, Oak Street Plaza, the OMCA Gardens or café patio.

Directions

OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $7 flat fee after 5 pm. Museum garage closes at 11 pm.

Food and drink are not allowed inside the galleries unless otherwise designated. No outside alcoholic drinks permitted. Enjoy drinks at the Blue Oak bars.
