Tonight, don’t miss our Acoustic Space Series inside the OMCA galleries! Get cozy at OMCA with our Winter Season of Friday Nights @ OMCA, bringing you expanded DJ sets from the Bay Area’s finest and a new monthly Acoustic Space Series featuring performing arts experiences inside the OMCA galleries on March 16, followed by live music outdoors every Friday starting on March 23 with the launch of our Summer Season.

Friday Nights @ OMCA is one of Oakland's favorite things to do and the only after-hours museum night paired with Off the Grid food trucks, bringing you the best of local cuisine along with music, dance, and the whole Museum open late. Enjoy half-price admission, hands-on activities for kids, and a lineup of live music and dance from local performers that changes weekly. Bring friends and family for a taste of local music, food, and culture at the Oakland Museum of California every Friday Night!

Late Night Gallery Hours

5–9 pm: Galleries Open Late
Admission is half-off for adults. Ages 18 and under are always free on Friday Nights @ OMCA.

Music, Dance, and Performances

5–6:30, 7–9 pm: DJs & Fresh Jamz Party
10th Street Amphitheater
Bay Area's own DJ Odiaka & Delgado of Fresh Jamz spinning hits. Fresh Jamz is an organic gathering space by and for community-minded Oaklanders, founded as a happy hour for educators in 2008 by DJ Odiaka and Delgado. The Fresh Jamz family spends every week educating and advocating for the youth and marginalized of our city, and then unwinds together as only we can. 

6:307 pm: Dance Instruction
10th Street Amphitheater
Join Yeni Lucero for a Hip-Hop/Reggaeton/Afro beat dance showcase. Yeni was born in the small town of Chalchuapa, El Salvador, before coming to the Bay Area. With a background in West African dance, Lucero has a BA from Dance and Choreography from San Francisco State University. She is also a Teaching Artist Specialist for the Alameda County Office Of Education, and teaches dance for OUSD.

6:30–8 pm: Music — Acoustic Space Series
Gallery of California Art
Our new monthly Acoustic Space Series featuring performing arts experiences inside the OMCA galleries. Join us in the Gallery of California Art to experience the “Sound Sculptress" Destiny Muhammad and her ethereal trio in commemoration of Women’s History Month. Destiny Muhammad is a recording/performing artist, band leader, composer, and producer. Her signature genre, Celtic to Coltrane, has a cool and eclectic sound with a feel of jazz and a touch of storytelling to round out the sonic experience. Read the full description. Family Activities

Enjoy a rotating lineup of local gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid.

Enjoy beer and wine specials from local makers.

Kick back and relax with seating available on 10th Street (no alcoholic beverages allowed), the 10th Street Amphitheater, and Oak Street Plaza. To protect the Museum collections, food and drink are not allowed inside the galleries unless otherwise designated. Please note the OMCA Gardens are closed during Friday Nights @ OMCA through March 2018.

OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $7 flat fee after 5 pm. Museum garage closes at 10 pm.
