Playlist Project: Lori Katz

Summer Camp
Lori Katz, General Manager at Amoeba Music

For my crate selection, I dug through the $1 bins at Amoeba Music. The records that I chose are examples of what I was listening to when I was beginning to become aware of music. My first memories of listening to music are when I went away to summer camp in 1975–1977. My camp counselors introduced me to Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and so much great music of that time. Looking at these record covers brings back so many great memories.

Lori Katz is from the Detroit suburbs and spent many summers at Camp Tamarack where she was first introduced to the rich music of the ’70s including Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell, and Janis Joplin. She received her MFA in painting from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1997 and joined the staff of Amoeba Music in 1999.
