The Oakland Museum of California announces the safe recovery of the historic jewelry box that was stolen this January from the Museum’s Gallery of California History. The return of the stolen artifact coincides with the Oakland Police Department’s apprehension of the individual suspected of the Museum's two burglaries. The District Attorney is currently reviewing the case.
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Oakland Police Department for their expert assistance with recovering OMCA’s historic jewelry box to the collection,” says OMCA Director Lori Fogarty. “We hope to have the artifact back on view in the Gallery of California History as soon as feasible in the coming weeks, following careful conservation examination.”
