Speak out on Nature and Community in the City
|
This website is based on a museum exhibition at the Oakland Museum of California. It tells the story of how neighbors of Jungle Hill, a one-acre vacant lot in east Oakland, California, worked together to revitalize the land and strengthen their community. The story is told from the perspective of Tania Grande, Sergio Perez, and Frank Leyva (from left to right, below) -- three teenaged interns hired by the Oakland Museum to work with Jungle Hill's neighbors and to document the process of community and open space revitalization. The exhibition, and this website, tell the story of their work. Click on the topic boxes below to learn more. |
