Join OMCA and Off the Grid on 10th Street every Friday for a family-friendly take on a festive night market. Sample the best in Bay Area curbside cuisine from gourmet Off the Grid food trucks. Savor California beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages around the Koi Pond at the Blue Oak café beer garden. Get down with live music and dance lessons. Learn from local foodies in the Makers & Tasters Series. Catch featured Bay Area makers in action in the we/customize exhibition, and get creative at family-friendly drop-in workshops. Every Friday Nights @ OMCA offers unique programs, including:

  • Makers & Tasters Series with local beer brewers, coffee roasters, organic farmers, and authors hosting talks, demos, and tastings from 6 to 8 pm. Afterward, get your own sample, with products featured in the OMCA Store or on the menu at Blue Oak café. Makers & Tasters on the first Friday of every month features a book talk and signing with a book selected by and carried in the OMCA Store.
  • Customizer-in-Residence Open Studio Series in the we/customize exhibition from 5 to 8 pm, with demonstrations and hands-on projects for all ages. Learn how to personalize everything from clothing to bikes to IKEA furniture with weekly guest customizers. Learn more about the weekly featured customizer on Facebook and Tumblr, and view photos of your work on Flickr.
  • Live music, DJs, and family-friendly dance lessons, performances, and more from 6:30 to 7 pm, where you can shake it up with dances based on the monthly music themes.
  • Family fun at Friday Nights: every Friday night, from 5 to 8 pm, features a free hands-on art workshop for all ages. The final Friday of the month features storytime with the Oakland Public Library from 6 to 8 pm.
  • A rotating list of food trucks, music themes, and featured artists. Check the weekly event listings on the right to find out more; like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for up-to-the-minute event updates!
