Bay Area Sculptors Group Exhibition V: The Object
OMCA Sculpture Court at City Center
1111 Broadway, Oakland

Bay Area Sculptors Group Exhibition V: The Object, features the work of four Bay Area sculptors -- Margaret Herscher, Charlie Milgrim, Eddy Martinez Hood and Jane Grimm -- who turn found objects into new ones and recreate common objects from unexpected materials. The exhibition is on view at the Oakland Museum of California Sculpture Court at City Center, 1111 Broadway, Oakland, from May 24 through Sept. 11, 1999.

Margaret Herscher collects personal objects with sentimental value and casts them in bronze. Charlie Milgrim uses bowling balls and found objects to create new, unexpectedly humorous objects, often with potential for movement. Eddy Martinez Hood creates figurative sculptures from manzanita, and then paints them with automotive lacquers and high tech reflective paints. Jane Grimmís ceramic hats lend a touch of whimsy to the exhibition.
