Powles coached baseball, basketball, and football at McClymonds,
a predominantly black high school in Oakland, from 1947 to 1975.
There he influenced the lives of Frank Robinson, Curt Flood, Joe
Morgan, and Bill Russell, among others. Powles will also be honored
at the final program of the exhibition, Safe at Home: Oaklanders
Who Changed the Game, on Sunday, Jan 15, 2006.
