Minneapolis Modern:–Art Guild

We are pleased to again have Diane Hilliard, president of Stillwater-based
Hilliard & Olander, as our tour director. The city's art, restaurant
scene, and architecture are all cutting edge, with new buildings
by Michael Graves, Jean Nouvel and Cesar Pelli. Also, Frank Gehry
is working on an extension to his "little Bilbao", the

Shakespeare in Ashland—History
August 4–8, 2008
Shakespeare’s Othello and Thornton Wilder’s Our Town
are two of the highlights at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. An
evening at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre for dinner and archie & mehitabel
and a lecture by a retired Oxford University Shakespeare professor.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks—Natural Sciences
September 11–14,
2008
Enjoy a four-day exploration of the natural wonders of Sequoia
and Kings Canyon National Parks. We will be based in the beautiful
new Wuksachi Lodge. We will
take moderate hikes through the giant sequoia groves and high mountain meadows,
tour an exquisite limestone cave, and take a scenic drive along Kings Canyon
Highway. Dorris Welch, the Natural Sciences Department’s interpretive specialist,
will enhance our appreciation of the natural history and geology of the region.

Gary Holloway accompanies our visit to Denver, Colorado Springs,
the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Mesa Verde, Black Canyon
of the Gunnison, Colorado
National Monument, Rocky Mountain National Park. Ride the rails on Pikes Peak
Cog Railway, the Durango-Silverton Railroad, and the and Georgetown Loop Railroad.

Steinbeck and Monterey Movie Tour—History Guild
Oct. 14–16, 2008
In Salinas, the emphasis is on John Steinbeck with lunch at the
Steinbeck House, then on to the National Steinbeck Center. The
next day is a "Theater on Wheels,” a unique tour that
depicts the filming of a scene as we travel to the location. The
last morning we explore Monterey’s Cannery Row. Contact Helen
