A Sweep of History- History Guild
September 17, 2009
Take a look behind the scenes at the Old San Francisco Mint — known as the Granite Lady — before it opens to the public as the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society. Following lunch, we’ll visit the Society of California Pioneers for its special exhibit Incompletely Visible: the Legacy of the Bay Area Missions. Contact Marilyn Couch (510/524-7836).
A Day at the Academy- History Guild
September 24, 2009
The new California Academy of Sciences is so spectacular that we will be spending the entire day there, touring the museum on our own. It is the world's greenest museum, a single structure with multiple venues: an aquarium, a planetarium, a natural history museum and a four-story rain forest. Lunch will be on your own at one of the Academy's restaurants. Contact Mary Lou Ciranni (650/345-9031).
Marine Mammal Center and Hawk Hill–Natural Sciences Guild
Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Join us for a trip to the newly opened Marine Mammal Center in Marin County and then visit to Hawk Hill to watch migrating raptors soaring above the Golden Gate Bridge. Contact Nancy Dutcher (510/653-6018)
The Napa Valley Deja Vue- History Guild
October 29, 2009
The Napa Valley continues to provide new and interesting venues for our enjoyment. We will visit the recently opened medieval Tuscan-like Castello di Amorosa winery and the St. Helena Olive Oil Company of Rutherford. Lunch will be at Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen in St. Helena. Contact Kay MacFarland (510/758-6643) or Mary Lou Ciranni (650/345-9031).
