OMCA Community | Youth Speaks Semi-Finals
Celebrate the voices of 21st century America! Watch as promising young artists and leaders take the stage in OMCA’s James Moore Theater, speak truth to power, and perform for a chance to represent at the Grand Slam Finals.
Youth Speaks hosted the first Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam in 1997, the first poetry slam for teenagers in the country. The annual slam (an Olympic-style poetry competition) features hundreds of young writers, emcees, and performers from throughout the Bay Area and Northern California, and attracts almost 10,000 audience members during its month-long run.
The Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam is open to any youth 13-19 years old in the greater Bay Area. Register as a youth poet and learn more.
Free and open to the public. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam Semi-Finals take place during Friday Nights @ OMCA, featuring half-off Museum admission for adults, free admission for ages 18 and under, Off the Grid food trucks, live music, dancing, and more from 5 to 9 pm.
