Natural Sciences Guild Day Trip | Interpretive Walk at Effie Yeaw Nature Center

Wednesday, February 19, 2014, 10 am–5 pm
Wednesday, February 19, 2014 - 10:00am

Join the Natural Sciences Guild for a docent-led tour of the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, an award-winning environmental and cultural education center located within the beautiful American River Parkway in Carmichael, California. We’ll meander through the riparian woodlands along the American River. You’ll want to bring binoculars as there are many songbirds, raptors, and wild turkeys to observe, and possible sightings of deer and coyotes. The Center also has interactive exhibits and a small group of animals in residence that can no longer live in the wild.

We will travel by bus to the Center, leaving the Oakland Museum of California at 10 am. We will stop for lunch at Danielle’s Creperie at the corner of Watts Ave and Fair Oaks Blvd. Our tour at the Preserve will begin at 1:30 pm, and we’ll be leaving to return the Museum at about 3:30 pm. The tour will be held rain or shine.

The walk is about one hour on trails that are mostly level. If you are used to hiking poles, bring them, as there are some rocky areas.

Cost is $80 and includes transportation, docent tour and lunch.
