Friday, May 24, 2013 - 7:00pm

Don’t miss this special performance and curatorial talk during Friday Nights @ OMCA with the Oakland East Bay Symphony. Beginning at 7 pm, join a conversation moderated by Principal Conductor of Oakland Youth Orchestra John Kendall Bailey with OMCA Curator of Photography and Visual Culture Drew Johnson and Oakland East Bay Symphony Conductor Michael Morgan in conversation as they discuss the work of composer Dave Brubeck (pictured above left) and photographer Ansel Adams (pictured above right). Adams’ striking black-and-white photographs of the natural world provided inspiration for the Grammy-nominated symphonic work Ansel Adams: America, by Dave and Chris Brubeck, which will be performed in full at the Symphony’s Dave Brubeck Tribute Concert on Saturday, June 1 (see details below). Following the curatorial talk, the Symphony quintet, including Bill Kalinkos, clarinet; David Tidball, alto saxophone; Scott Bleaken, drums; Benny Watson, piano; and Carl Stanley, bass, will perform a selection of Brubeck’s works.

Admission to this program is $10, and does not include general Museum admission. Tickets are now available online and in-person at the Museum.

Presented in partnership with the Oakland East Bay Symphony.
