Art Guild Travel | Indulge in CRAft: Corning, Rochester, and Alfred, New York

May 8–14, 2014
Thursday, May 8, 2014 - 12:00am

Join the OMCA Art Guild on a journey to western New York next May as we visit three towns that have played strong roles in the history and contemporary scene of American crafts. We’ll visit the studios of Wendell Castle and Albert Paley and see their work at the new sculpture park at the Memorial Museum. We will also spend an activity-filled day at the Corning Museum of Glass, the largest collection of art glass in the country.

For ceramic enthusiasts, the faculty of Alfred University’s School of Art and Design will host us for a weekend of studio visits, student shows, and their private collections. In Rochester, we’ll stop by the Rochester Institute of Technology, esteemed for all craft media, and see the George Eastman International Museum of Photography and Film.

These are just a few highlights of this incredible week, so if contemporary craft is your passion, this is the trip for you!
