Art Guild Day Trip | San Francisco “Finds”

Thursday, February 28, 2013, 8:30 am–4 pm
Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 8:30am

Join the OMCA Art Guild as we visit the home of San Francisco artist Elizabeth Barlow, who paints portraits featuring objects or belongings rather than faces. These "portraits in absentia" use possessions as a way to explore the human experience.

At Pier 24 Photography we will view About Face, an exhibition focusing on portrait-based photography from the Pilara Foundation's collection, including 1,000 photographs from the mid-nineteenth century to present-day.

Gae and Mel Shulman will host our group in their home on Potrero Hill. Their collection started with prints then paintings and now concentrates on sculpture and glass.

Karen Tsujimoto, former OMCA curator and now a curator at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, will join us to talk about the beautiful and thought-provoking exhibition, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel. This exciting exhibition is part of Wiley's global exploration of the Black Diaspora.
