Thursday, February 13, 2014, 8:30 am–4 pm
Thursday, February 13, 2014 - 8:30am

Join the OMCA Art Guild for this trip exploring art around the Bay! The day starts in the Oakland Hills with a visit to renowned artist Younhee Paik, whose pieces speak to transformation and transition between material and spiritual worlds. Next, we’ll visit the Berkeley home and studio of award winning abstract, blown glass artist Marvin Lipofsky. Lipofsky is an educator, having established respected glass programs at UC Berkeley & California College of the Arts, and has been a passionate supporter of the arts for five decades.

After lunch in San Francisco, we visit the Getty Mansion, which is filled with museum-worthy objects that reflect the workmanship, ingenuity, and artifice of their era’s most talented artists, weavers, carvers, goldsmiths, potters, glassblowers, and sculptors. We end at the Alameda studio of artist Bill Weber. Following in the tradition of Diego Rivera, he has executed many stunning murals in homes and businesses around the Bay Area.
