Art Guild Day Trip | A Day of Glass

Tuesday, August 20, 2013, 8:30 am–4 pm

The large contemporary home of Bruce and Judy Morse on the Tiburon Peninsula is filled with Bruce’s collection of young artists’ work, including realist paintings, ceramics, furniture…and glass! We will see works by artists including Dale Chihuly, William Morris, Richard Shaw, Therman Statom, Rudy Autio, and others.

Then, glass sculptor Latchezar Boyadjiev welcomes us to his Novato studio where elegant, fluid, sensual shapes evolve from an idea on paper into vibrantly-colored sculpture. In his work, pale, muted tones transition into deep, rich colors in glass ridges, expressing freedom, uplifting emotions, and the spiritual.

In Berkeley, we will visit the home and studio of Marvin Lipofsky, award-winning abstract blown-glass artist, whose sculptures are organic in form and vibrant in color. Marvin is an educator, having established respected glass programs at UC Berkeley & CCA, and has been a passionate supporter of the arts for five decades.
