EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
At OMCA, our Education Department has developed a number of classroom-based curriculum materials:
- Picture This: California's Perspectives on American History, an educational resource that features primary source images from OMCA's collections that reflect the rich cultural diversity of California.
- Gold Rush!, an online curriculum developed for grades 4, 5, 8, and 11 that draws on the myths and realities of an event that attracted treasure-seekers from all over the world. Additional lessons explore facets of the Gold Rush and its impact on the people and culture of California, from the native population and immigration to slavery and Civil Rights.
- What's Going On, lessons developed to enrich teaching of the controversial Vietnam War era at the 11th grade level.
- Latino History Project, The Latino History Project is a program dedicated to involving youth in collecting and preserving Latino history of the East Bay.
- OMCA's Days of the Dead 2009 online project
