    What an amazing week for Oakland! Here at the Oakland Museum of California, we spent the day celebrating the Warriors' big win. And we were in the thick of it: The Championship Parade and Rally took place right in our Lake Merritt neighborhood. The Bay turned it out, blue-and-gold style, for the 2017 NBA Champs!

They’ve been icons of sports and style for nearly two centuries. Starting December 22, OMCA will explore the art and impact of this fashion staple in the new exhibition Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture.

    I don’t know about you, but I’m still trying to absorb the Golden State Warriors’ unexpected, up-to-the-final seconds loss in this year’s NBA Finals. Luckily for us, the Oakland Museum of California had the chance to open a new installation in the Gallery of California History that gives us space to explore what it means to be proud of the team and The Town, even when we don’t take the trophy home.
