The Summer Season of Friday Nights @ OMCA means the gardens are open for picnics, live music outside is back, gallery hours are open until 10 pm, and the Off the Grid food truck market expands onto Oak Street. Come celebrate the summer with our Friday Nights @ OMCA Block Party, taking place every first and third Fridays of the month now through July and on August 10. Get down to new themes each month featuring performances and activities in celebration of our special exhibition RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom, on view through August 12. Tonight's theme is Traditions of Resilience.

Late Night Gallery Hours

5–10 pm: Galleries Open Late

7–7:30 pm: Snack-Sized LGBTQ+ Tour
Visit Ticketing Desk on 2nd level to discover meeting location
In honor of National Pride Month, celebrate with a Docent Tour of the Galleries focused on LGBTQ+ history in California. Included with Museum admission. 

7:30–7:45 pm: Snack-Sized Docent Tour
Visit Ticketing Desk on 2nd level to discover meeting location
A fifteen-minute mini-tour led by a talented OMCA Docent with a surprise theme each time. Included with Museum admission.

Relax and build your skills every first Friday with “Your Local Yoga Dealer” Shakira inside RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom. All levels welcome, bring your own mat. Included with special exhibition Museum admission.

6–8 pm: Plug ‘n’ Play 
Great Hall, Level 2
Every Friday during Friday Nights @ OMCA, a rotating list of guest DJs take over the Hip-Hop Dojo inside RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom to demonstrate live sets. Included with special exhibition Museum admission. 

6:30–7:50 pm: Music
10th Street Amphitheater
Special Program: Traditions of Resilience. Experience a series of art forms born largely from African traditions and show how they have fed and connect to Hip-Hop. Don't miss:

Join a community mural demonstration and workshop with Forrealism artist Joaquin Alejandro Newman and youth artists from the REACH Ashland Youth Center, a program of the County of Alameda.

Enjoy a rotating lineup of local gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid.

Enjoy beer and wine specials from local makers.

Kick back and relax with seating available on 10th Street (no alcoholic beverages allowed), the 10th Street Amphitheater, Oak Street Plaza, and the OMCA Gardens. To protect the Museum collections, food and drink are not allowed inside the galleries unless otherwise designated.

Directions

OMCA is located one block from the Lake Merritt BART Station. Event parking is available at the Museum for a $7 flat fee after 5 pm. Museum garage closes at 10 pm.
